TCBG Music Machine
The “Music Machine” idea was an unexpected development which began soon after I started to write the Blog Book. However, I’m having such a lot of fun playing about with GarageBand and creating little fragments of music for the coffee characters, that I thought it worth carrying on. So, various musical ideas and compositions will appear as we go along.
To start the ball rolling, here is a short piece of ‘atmospheric’ music to introduce the members of The Gang.
Experimental Theme Tune for The Coffee Bar Gang ™
The opening 3 note riff uses C, B, G, (Coffee Bar Gang), featuring:
John Smith on trumpet plus assorted loops from GarageBand’. This is simply a demo or concept tape it’s still a WIP – I’m hoping to expand the riff and produce a better quality live version after lockdown?
Enjoy!
Rafiq Salam is an all action character, a loner with a troubled soul. His story is set in Beirut, a cultural kalaidascope of dizzying complexity. Raf’s theme tune captures some of the drama, excitement, and mystery of ‘Down Town’ Beirut.
Carlucci Bosco is a very ‘theatrical’ character, closely connected with the world of opera, so I have experimented with a fragment of introductory music to suggest something (foreboding?) about his story. My thanks to the wonders of GarageBand for the assorted loops.
A Song for Angelique
Hopefully, the first of more to come? Perhaps I can create a theme tune or ‘signature’ piece for every character?
This song is inspired by Angelique Dauxette, a character from The Coffee Bar Gang ™. Angelique is a member of the French Secret Service, she has a deadly reputation as an agent and assassin.
The lyrics consist of 4 verses and a chorus. This is still a WIP, the melody clearly needs further shaping, also, when performed live there would be intro and outro riffs, plus an instrumental solo. Roll on the end of Lockdown!!
